Young Summer 2024 is now official: how to request discounts, requirements and dates

The Government allocates 130 million euros to reduce bus and train tickets by up to 90% so that young people can travel this summer.

Bonuses apply to single and round-trip tickets for travel throughout Spain and Europe between July 1 and September 30, 2024.

Discounts on public transportation

Youth discounts will be applied as follows:

• 90% discount on regular state bus services.
• 90% discount on Media Distance and Metric Gauge network services.
• 50% discount on Avant single titles.
• 50% discount (with a maximum of 30 euros per ticket) for long-distance or high-speed commercial services (AVE, Avlo, Alvia, Intercity and Euromed).
• 50% discount on the Interrail Global Pass for 10 days in 2 months, marketed through Renfe.

How to request the Young Summer discounts?

To benefit from the discounts of the Summer Youth 2024 program, young people must follow these steps:

• Registration on the MITMA website: Interested parties must register on the website of the Ministry of Transport, Mobility and Urban Agenda (MITMA) through Cl@ve or by filling out a form with their personal data (name, surname, date of birth, number and date of validity of the DNI or NIE).
• Receipt of the discount code: Once the information has been confirmed and it has been verified that the requirements are met, a confirmation email will be sent with a QR code and an alphanumeric code, which must be used to purchase the discount tickets.
• Purchase of tickets: Tickets can be purchased on the transport operators' websites, selecting 'Young Summer' in the discounts drop-down menu and entering the code provided.

The application process will be carried out through an online form on the website of the Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility.

Once registered, you will receive a personal and non-transferable code that you must use to buy discounted tickets on the websites of the different transport operators.

News for 2024

This year, one of the new features is that the beneficiaries may be both Spaniards and foreigners with legal residence in Spain, regardless of their nationality.

In addition, the website to register and obtain the discount code is expected to be ready by June 15, 2024.

More than 4 million trips in 2023 with the Verano Joven program

Last summer, the Verano Joven program registered great success with more than 4 million trips between June 15 and September 15, 2023.

More than 2 million young people registered in the program and 1.13 million of them used the discounts to travel.
